FOX INTERVIEW
FOX Racing Shox is there when “it” counts — what is “it” to you?
"It" is when during a race when I can get into the zone and charge. Both my bike and body have to be working properly to get confidence to go full out.
Tell us about your bike setup.
My race day setup is a 250 two stroke. I still feel that is the most versatile motorcycle that can give me the best chance of winning.
What else is in your garage?
The other toys in my gargae are a 24 inch bicycle and a trials bike.
What's your training regimen?
My training regimen consists of time on the bike, running, soccer, and light weights. I try to do something active every day.
Any major injuries, and how did you recover?
The major injuries I have sustained are a broken elbow, wrist, and leg. Time is the only thing that heals. You can't beat the clock.
What's your typical pre-race meal? Guilty pleasure?
I don't have a typical pre race meal. I try and eat healthy but my guilty pleasure would be too much meat and potatoes.
What is your pre-race OCD behavior?
Before a race I like to be relaxed and not have a bunch of things to do in order to avoid getting stressed out.
How do you determine which races to enter each year?
Other than following the D 36 cross country series I try and hit other quality events on the west coast such as the Idaho Qualifier and the Funcky Chicken Hare Scramble.
What are some of your best memories?
Some of my best memories are driving back east with my brother and living the dream.
What motivated you to get started racing?
Winning! I tried a lot of different sports but nothing else is as fun as riding a motorcycle.
What separates you from other professional athletes?
In other sports they have a chance to make some money.
How does FOX Racing Shox contribute to your success?
FOX has been able to provide equipment that gives me confidence to hit things hard.
What would you be doing if you weren't a professional athlete?
I am also a Sales Manager for KTM.
What's the best thing about being a professional athlete?
The best thing about being a professional athlete is doing what you love to do everyday. Not that many people have that opportunity.
What other sports are you interested in?
I like soccer and other forms of racing; Moto GP, Formula 1, Rally Cars.
Any advice to the readers dreaming to turn pro?
Keep it fun, and the motivation to win has to come from within yourself.
Are you a gamer? What are your favorite games?
I am not a gamer but usually get out the playstation when I am injured and stuck in bed.
What are your favorite magazines and websites?
I like the moto related websites such as Cycle News and Racer X.
Favorite movie quote?
In Caddyshack, when Rodney Dangerfield arrives everything he says is funny from that point on.
