Reservoir Swap for Aftermarket FLOAT X Shocks on Specialized Kenevo SL Frames

When installing an aftermarket FLOAT X shock for use on a Specialized Kenevo SL you must swap out the reservoir for a shorter length to prevent frame contact at bottom out.
The Specialized Kenevo SL utilizes a 230 x 62.5 shock. The stock reservoir for that travel of FLOAT X shock is the 227-09-052 (Reservoir: 2022 FLOAT X & DHX, Long Travel, TLG 64.9).
The 227-09-051 (Reservoir: 2022 FLOAT X & DHX, Medium Travel, TLG 60.8) must be installed when utilizing a FLOAT X shock on a Specialized Kenevo SL frame. The IFP depth should be set to 37mm (+/- 1.25mm) after swapping to the medium travel reservoir.
Please use the 2022 FLOAT X Rebuild procedure for information on removal and replacement of the reservoir.
As a general practice you should always check for clearance before riding when installing a new shock.
If you are installing a shock on a bike for which the shock was not original equipment, follow the steps below to ensure proper clearance before riding.
- Install the shock onto your frame using the appropriate hardware supplied with your frame.
- Remove the air cap, attach a shock pump, then SLOWLY release all air out of the main air chamber.
- Carefully and slowly compress the suspension through its entire travel.
- Check that no part of your shock contacts any portion of your frame or linkage as it cycles through its travel.
- Add air pressure to the main air chamber in ~50 psi (3.4 bar) increments, slowly cycling the shock after every 50 psi (3.4 bar) addition.
