06.17.11 Well the weekend or shall I say week for me is over, and wow am I exhausted! Being injured most of the early season has been rough on me, mentally and physically. My girlfriend and I drove to Langley BC tuesday night where we stayed the night at my Aunt & Uncles. Wednesday morning we drove with Mitch Chubey to Abby where our friend Dustin Gilding lives, his jumps are wicked! Imagine walking into a jungle with the birds chirping and finding beautifully manicured jumps..... Yeah thats what I experienced. It was my first day back on the bike in 4 weeks, so I was a little nervous hitting these jumps right off the bat. Oh well, I just kept the tires rolling and the fun going.
We took off around 4pm to go back to my Aunt & Uncles, pack up our stuff, then head to our ferry at 7pm. It had to have been the most beautiful ferry ride, the sun was in set and sea life all around us. Arriving a couple hours later in Sidney we got settled in our temporary hotel and met up with the film crew from The Edge Factor Show. After filming a couple days with them I felt like I had never been off the bike! I was so amped up.
Friday we drove to Victoria. Checked into our hotel, the place was unreal. I don't know how the FMB World Tour was allowed to house mountain bikers there. Tyler McCaul showed up so he got all settled in the room then we built up his bike and headed to check out the course for practice. It was pretty sick. Not the best course but it was still pretty fun.
Practice was good then qualifying was next. I qualified 6th so I had a good seating for finals. It was super windy all weekend which really through off a few riders runs. Being back riding was awesome, i felt good on the bike again and had most of my tricks dialed, some even more so then before!
My run in finals was 360 the step down, tailwhip, 360 xup to table, pump the vert wall then barpspin followed by a tailwhip on the QP. Placing 5th was a highlight for me as it was my first week back on the bike. I was just happy to be riding again with all the guys and having fun.
I was hoping to make it to claymore challenge this year but it doesn't look like I will get my Athlete Visa in time, bummer!
Next up for me is Crankworx Whistler!
Thanks for the support guys!
