Scott Beaumont Race Report: Schwalbe British 4X Series
The 2011 Schwalbe British 4X Series has been action packed from the first drop of the gate at Leamington, back in April, and the weekends racing at South West Extreme delivered more of the same.
08.15.11 Fantastic weekend for me. The 2011 Schwalbe British 4X Series has been action packed from the first drop of the gate at Leamington, back in April, and the weekends racing at South West Extreme delivered more of the same.
The track, one of my favorites, remained unchanged from the track that held the 2010 National Championships. A long first straight, wide bermed corners, flat turns, rock sections and big pro line doubles make this track fun to ride and great for racing.
The weather was fantastic all weekend. Although rain threatened at times on Saturday, it held off and on Sunday, it was blue skies all day. A decent crowd showed up, with lots of general public watching through the whole weekend.
On Saturday I felt really good in practice and carried that through the motos with 4 wins. In the semi final I took the inside gate, made a great snap and led start to finish to book a place in the final. In the final I once again had gate 1. As the gate dropped I tagged it a little bit, but got to the first turn in the lead. From there I rode a smooth race and took the win. Stoked!!
Sunday and it was Round 6. I felt good again and my legs werent too tired. Practice went well and again I was confident for the racing. After the motos I had won all 4 races again and I now had my sights set on a clean sweep winning every race over the weekend. I moved a step closer in the semi final taking the win again. In the final I had gate 1, Tom Dowie on 2, Will Evans on 3 and Lewis Lacey on 4. I made a great start this time and took the lead on the first straight. from there I rode a perfect race and crossed the line with the win and the clean sweep I was looking for. Twelve races over the weekend and 12 wins.
With the final UCI 4X World Cup coming up this weekend in Val Di Sole, this was great preparation for me. I will update you all from Italy through the week.
Here is the first race report from British Cycling
World Championships
Great news as well on Friday as I have been selected to represent Great Britain in 3 weeks time at the 4X World Championships in Champery, Switzerland. I will be looking to carry my current form through and get a great result there.
