Back On The Road
Casey Groves update
05.15.12 It's been a very long wait for me to finally be fully back on the FMB Tour, the time is here now and I haven't been this excited in a very long time.
Being at home recovery from a sprained ankle was killing me; I kept myself sane by going hiking everyday and focusing on getting healthier. I received my new Morpheus hard tail only a few days before we started out trip to Oregon for Jamie Goldman's UDUG dirt jump contest (Bronze Event). I wasn't 100% sure how my ankle was going to hold up and I hadn't even ridden my new bike yet, things were completely up in the air.
We arrived at Jamie's at 5am on Friday morning and went to sleep to get reenergized. I was so excited to ride I only got a couple hours of sleep before I rose and wanted to get on my bike. The course was really rad, it consisted of a small roll in to a little dish style feature followed by a lofty 4 pack into a left hand hip 20ft long'n'low double into another double that put you railing a berm then up onto another roll in with a step down to the final trick jump.
Practice went super well for me and I was feeling super confidant, as if I had been training the whole spring instead of being on the couch or in the wilderness. Got to love muscle memory!
My placing run was, 360 X-up, 360 table, Tuck No-Hander, Downside tail-whip, Tuck No hander, 360 X-up, then finished up with a perfect 360 whip on the final jump.
After a season like last year starting off with a 2nd place at my first event of the year I couldn't be happier!
We are now on route to Grand Junction Colorado for Ranchstyle Bike Festival. Stopping on the way in Green River and Salt Lake City to shoot for our trip video that is being filmed by Nic Genovese and Mike Zinger, going to a be very good video!!!
Cheers!
