Chad Hord has Sights Set on Points Championship
Hord Racing Captures First Podium of 2012
04.20.12 Round 1: The 2012 TORC Season kicked off on The Dirt Track at Char-lotte Motor Speedway, airing live on SPEED and an attendance of about 10,000 over the weekend. After a hard charging qualifying run that earned the BOSS Snowplow, AMSOIL, BF Goodrich tired, Roush Perform-ance Nissan Titan a bonus point for their 2nd fastest lap, Chad lined his #9 Pro-2WD up on the 3rd row, inside for the 2x2 rolling start. As the green flag flew, the truck launched off the start toward the left handed sweeper. Being on the inside proved to be a disadvantage as the trucks dove in and Chad was cut off, unable to move forward. Chad settled into 9th position. While charging hard through the rhythm section to gain back positions, the truck unexpect-edly pitched Chad off of the track and up onto two wheels. With a spectacular save, Chad managed to get the truck back under control and worked his way back up to fifth place by the mandatory cau-tion. Chad used the restart to his advantage and quickly moved into fourth place. With two laps to go the race leader spun out and got back underway right alongside Chad. It was a battle to the check-ered flag and Hord Racing finished round one in a respectable fourth place, just shy of a podium finish.
When asked his thoughts on Round 1, Chad replied, The truck was unpredictable and I didnt want to take unnecessary risks. You cant win a points champion-ship in the opening weekend, but you can lose one. Once back to the pits Chad and the crew imme-diately began assessing the truck and determining the necessary adjustments for Round 2.

Round 2: Confident with the changes made after Friday nights racing, The BOSS Snowplow, AMSOIL, Nissan Titan lined up on the second row, inside for Round 2 ac-tion. Starting positions were based on the previous nights performance, as the top six finishers are inverted. When the green flag flew, the BF Goodrich tires put the power of the Roush Yates Performance, Nissan Titan engine to the ground, despite the contact through turn one, Chad was able to come out in second place. The BOSS Snowplow, AMSOIL #9 settled into his line, watching the leader for a lap to see where to make his move. On the second lap Chad made the pass and took the lead. The adjustments made to the Fox Shox gave Chad the edge he needed as the truck sailed through the rhythm sections and transferred the weight much better through the corners. With four laps to go until the mandatory caution, Chad started to receive pressure from the second place truck of Menzies. Chad was able to hold his line and maintain the lead through the manda-tory caution taking home two valuable bo-nus points for leading at the yellow. On the restart Chad was able to run a perfect line and maintain his lead. He and Menzies had an awesome battle going, eventually Menzies was able to tuck inside, Chad tried to find a way back around, but time would run out and the Hord Racing #9 earned a 2nd place finish and its first podium finish of the 2012 season. Our next race will be at Red Bud in Buchanan, MI over Memorial Day weekend.
