Stronghold Motorsports Lake Elsinore Recap
04.25.12 In an epic battle, Stronghold Motorsports rising superstar, RJ Anderson, withstood a relentless assault from the ProLite defending champion to take the win in Round 4 of Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series action at Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park. Andersons teammate, Cameron Steele shot out from the pole in Round 3 and never looked back as he raced to the checkered flag conquering the ProBuggy field and capturing his first win of the season. The Southern California location, close to the Stronghold Motorsports Riverside, California headquarters, provided the opportunity to host a large contingent of the teams locally based partners, supporters and television network executives throughout the entire event.
From the onset of early practice sessions, 19 year old RJ Anderson quickly established himself as a force to be reckoned with as the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series made its much anticipated return to the Lake Elsinore Motorsports Complex for Rounds 3 &4. Although Anderson led the majority of the third round of ProLite truck racing, he faced an aggressive challenge late in the race and relinquished the lead. Forced to settle for the runner up spot, Anderson was not to be denied a second time the following day. Quickly shooting his way to the front of the pack early in the race, Anderson was constantly bombarded by an aggressive attack from the series defending champion.
As the two diced for the lead throughout the majority of the sixteen lap main event, Anderson maintained his composure and fought off his adversary to bring home the thrilling fourth round victory in front of the cheering capacity crowd. Earning his second win and third visit to the podium of the season at the high flying Lake Elsinore track, Anderson now holds a slim margin to take full control of the ProLite truck season standings.

Thus far in 2012, the podium has eluded seven-time supercross champion, Jeremy McGrath. Showing the speed that led to multiple podiums in 2011, McGrath posted the second best qualifying time in the lighting fast Pro2 field. His impressive qualifying effort followed by a solid fifth place result in Saturdays racing action, provided McGrath the momentum to move forward in the standings. Entering Sundays fourth round, the promise of a podium was quickly diminished as McGrath was spun early in the first lap as the roaring pack of 900 horse powered Pro2 trucks thundered through the first corner leaving him to fight from the back of the group. Recovering, from the rear of the 18 truck field, McGrath relentlessly powered his way back throughout the race to salvage a sixth place result.

The blazing fast pace at the high speed, big air Lake Elsinore track kept the standing room only crowd breathless throughout the weekend for Rounds 3&4 of Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series action, while the Supercross.com/Loctite team of Jeremy Twitch Stenberg, Matt Cook, Larry Job and Garrett Poelman continued to advance their pursuit towards the podium.
Matt Cooks solid qualifying effort for Saturdays third round earned him an all important spot with the lead pack as the team made its first visit to Lake Elsinore. Putting down fast, consistent lap times, Cook was able to avoid the carnage taking place on the track and race with the elite drivers in the 23 truck field as he kept the podium within sight. His effort paying off, Cook worked his truck into a seasons best, fourth place position. Sunday, Cook led his qualifying group and earned himself the pole position to begin round 4. Immersed in a battle for the lead from the charging pack of ProLites, Cook fought to maintain his spot. Unfortunately, just five laps into the race, Cook suffered a mechanical difficulty that retired him from the round and halted what had been an impressive showing for the second year off road competitor.

Along with Cook, teammate Jeremy Twitch Stenberg continues to impress with each round of racing under his belt. The popular free style icon, competing for the first time in Lake Elsinore behind the wheel of his 900 Horse powered Pro2, quickly acclimated himself to the biggest jumps and highest speeds on the off road racing circuit. Taking heavy contact from fellow competitors in Round 3, Stenberg battled his way through the hard charging pack to the finish line. The following day Stenberg proved his mettle as he again was caught up in the chaos. Not one to resist a challenge, Stenberg kept the throttle down as he navigated the Lake Elsinore minefield. With a pair of top ten finishes in the series premier class, Stenberg is proving to be a quick study as he makes the adjustments necessary to transition from the limited horse powered SuperLite truck class where he earned his 2010 championship.

Also competing for the weekend in Lake Elsinore for the Supercross.com/Loctite team were Garrett Poelman in his SuperLite truck and Larry Job in ProBuggy. Poelmans first visit to Lake Elsinore garnered him a pair of top ten finishes while Job continued to race on the edge in pursuit of victory closing out the weekend with a fifth place result.
