How does FOX contribute to your success?
I have had support from FOX since they released the FLOAT X EVOL and PODIUM X package in 2006! They have been instrumental in my success in both WORCS and SCORE. The products are second to none and just seem to be getting better. FOX has done extensive testing with my team and a lot of others to make sure we have the best ride possible.
Tell us about your bike/vehicle setup.
S&S MotorSports Built TRX450R, Teixeira Tech components coupled with FOX shocks, Maxxis tires, Hiper wheels, Precision RP clamp & stabilizer, HMF exhaust, Wiseco piston, K&N air, Rekluse, bling star aluminum, PWR, UPP, IMS, TCS skids, Maxima oils, Spider grips, Warn, Power Madd, Trail Tech bars and lights, wiring by Hot Rod Fabrications, Fullbore, Scott goggles & KLIM gear on my person!
What else is in your garage?
85' Chevy Step Side 4x4 with 440 Buick, several more TRX's, and a mountain bike.
What's your training regimen?
MotoXNutrion/Universal Human Athletics has my team on a great high-intensity circuit training program. It involves the use of the TRX suspension trainer and other tools that are easily stored at home. In addition to that I run stadium stairs, bicycle and flat water kayak.
Any major injuries, and how did you recover?
Separated a shoulder several times and blew out a knee about 12 or so years ago. Proper rehab and physical therapy. Now, with my current program both are stronger than ever before. A lot of what we do is great for injury prevention.
What's your typical pre-race/event meal? Guilty pleasure?
Rice flower pasta if it's available coupled with a lean protein the day before. Oatmeal and a protein shake along with my MXN suppliments the day of. I have a hard time turning down oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.
How do you determine which races or events to enter each year?
My heart is in Off-Road racing! I love the desert and every aspect and challenge involved in putting a successful desert racing program together. The most challenging in my opinion is the SCORE series so that is my focal point.
What motivated you to get started professionally?
I was born a competitor and set my eyes on racing from the first time I had the opportunity to ride.
What separates you from other professional athletes?
Having the ability to be mentally, physically and mechanically prepared for the task at hand.
What would you be doing if you weren't a professional athlete?
I'd be doing what I do, help run my family's fourth generation water well drilling business! I like to dabble with writing too, so I think I would like to get paid for that as well. For an ATV Mag or some sort of Off-Road magazine of course!
What's the best thing about being a professional athlete?
Getting paid to do what you love is my guess. But since that's not the case for me I guess it's the ability to go toe-to-toe with people that do.
What other sports are you interested in?
Snow and water skiing, mountain biking, and MMA.
Any advice to the readers dreaming to turn pro?
Do work! When everyone else is out playing around, keep your focus on your goals!
