How does FOX contribute to your success?
Suspension is a huge piece of the puzzle of racing downhill, testing with FOX has already had a huge impact on my results.
Tell us about your bike/vehicle setup.
I ride a Norco with a FOX Factory Series 40 203 FIT RC2 fork, and a Factory Series DHX RC4 rear shock. Shimano drive/brakes, Crankbrothers wheels and pedals, Maxxis tires, Kore bars, stem, seats, ODI Grips, Cane Creek headset, E13 chainguide, and Jagwire cables.
What else is in your garage?
Fleet of Norco bikes. Honda CRF250, and a CRF150r. Killer tool box, compressor, and good vibes.
What's your training regimen?
6 days a week, from December through September - Gym, cross-country, motocross, road cycling, and a bit of running here and there.
Any major injuries, and how did you recover?
Broken scaphiod and dislocated wrist back in 2007 at Mont St. Anne. I had 3 surgeries to get it back to new. I was off the bike for 4 months, that was a little tough. Dislocated shoulder (many times)... torn LCL... a few concussions... broken elbow... broken fingers... broken ankle and surgery... stitches in a bunch of places... I'm healthy right now!
What's your typical pre-race/event meal? Guilty pleasure?
Nothing like a bit of the old spaghetti bolognese the night before! Guilty pleasure, brownies for sure.
How do you determine which races or events to enter each year?
Media and attendance.
What motivated you to get started professionally?
Going fast and hitting jumps.
What separates you from other professional athletes?
My lively/honest (sometimes brutal) personality. What you see is what you get. Plus, I have a little friend named Jill Kintner on my side!
What would you be doing if you weren't a professional athlete?
Probably helping professional athletes in one way or another.
What's the best thing about being a professional athlete?
Ahh, duh, we get to do the thing we love and get paid for it!
What other sports are you interested in?
Motocross, golf, and NBA.
Any advice to the readers dreaming to turn pro?
It takes a lot of work... commit to your goals and you'll be fine.
