How does FOX contribute to your success?
I've got access to the best equipment and support team that continues developing it.
Tell us about your bike/vehicle setup.
I've got a handful of mutant shred beasts, but the primary is a Giant Anthem X advanced SL with Shimano XTR, Michelin and, of course, a Factory Series 32 FLOAT 120 FIT RLC fork and a Factory Series FLOAT RP23 high-volume shock.
What else is in your garage?
Too much stuff. A Yamaha Apex MTN snowmobile, motos include a 1987 Honda CH150 scooter, Yamaha R6, CRF450X and KTM450SX Supermoto race bike. Plus all my roommate's motos, and about 20 bikes. Plus kayaks and skis. I need a bigger garage and a smaller house...
What's your training regimen?
I ride a lot. Sometimes fast, sometimes slow. Lifting heavy objects is important too. Kayaking takes care of sit-ups and skiing for balance training.
Any major injuries, and how did you recover?
Just tore my ACL. Awesome. Will let you know how I recover once I, um, recover.
What's your typical pre-race/event meal? Guilty pleasure?
Two eggs with some kind of starch. Preferably in a tortilla with some avocado and salsa. Guilty pleasure is donuts, duh...
How do you determine which races or events to enter each year?
The ones that look fun get sprinkled around the ones that are fun and necessary, such as World Cups.
What motivated you to get started professionally?
Curiosity. And the local shop rats.
What separates you from other professional athletes?
I'm more fun-oriented that goal-oriented. Success does happen to be fun on some level though...
What would you be doing if you weren't a professional athlete?
Hopefully doing something that enabled a similar lifestyle...
What's the best thing about being a professional athlete?
The lifestyle. We're lucky. Doing things you love as "work." Like naps.
What other sports are you interested in?
Most of the action packed ones. Skiing, kayaking, motorcycles of all types, rally car racing, and exploring.
Any advice to the readers dreaming to turn pro?
Stick your neck out. It might get cut off or might get huge...
What are your favorite magazines and websites?
Bike, Powder, and unofficialsquaw.com
Favorite movie quote?
"That'll Happen."
Who is your hero?
Tomac
Are you a Mac or PC? Mac
