Setup for the rough stuff, a stiff setup but still active on the small stuff too.
What else is in your garage?
My moto, surfboard and lots of spiders.
What's your training regimen?
Gym, road, XC, moto, surfing, downhill, and dirt jumping. Riding bikes heaps.
Any major injuries, and how did you recover?
Everyone hates injuries, lets not talk about these!
What's your typical pre-race/event meal? Guilty pleasure?
In the U.S., burritos! In Europe whatever you can find, usually a pasta dish.
How do you determine which races or events to enter each year?
Wherever the strongest competition is.
What motivated you to get started professionally?
Wanting to go fast and test myself against everyone else.
What separates you from other professional athletes?
Motivation and self discipline.
What would you be doing if you weren't a professional athlete?
Working in my bike shop, Bike Otago.
What's the best thing about being a professional athlete?
Racing every week and pushing yourself in those races until you find your limits.
What other sports are you interested in?
Motocross, surfing, anything with motors or wheels.
Any advice to the readers dreaming to turn pro?
Ride a lot and set goals.
