How does FOX contribute to your success?
I think that FOX is a big part of my success, 'cause first of all they build the best suspension stuff I've ever ridden. But then there is also the perfect support of the FOX team at the races. If you get your bike back, you can be sure you got the best setup of the race!
Tell us about your best race or event and how it changed you.
My best race for sure was the World Cup final 2010 Windham, which was my first win at a World Cup race ever and which made me the World Cup Overall winner in four cross 2010. That day changed me a lot. It made me believe in all my efforts I've taken over the years and showed me that it all paid off! Now I'm more confident and I know, when I believe in myself, I can beat anyone!
Tell us about your bike/vehicle setup.
In four cross I ride a Yeti DJ and a Factory Series 32 831 100 FIT RLC with 90 mm suspension, best bike ever! In downhill I got a Yeti 303R-DH with a Factory Series 40 203 FIT RC2 and a Factory Series DHX RC4, light, fast, agile.
What else is in your garage?
A Yeti BMX, cross-country bike, a freerider, road bike, a track bike, a moto bike Suzuki 125, a snow scoot, ski... but no car, 'cause there is no space!
What's your training regimen?
'Cause I concentrate on 4X, I spend most of the time on the BMX track doing sprint, gate, interval and technical training. Then there is also gym and condition training. For relaxing and recovery I do spinning on the home trainer.
Any major injuries, and how did you recover?
There were a lot, I stopped counting. But all of them made me think a bit more and work harder and I always got back stronger than before, so they all had upsides!
What's your typical pre-race/event meal? Guilty pleasure?
I love chicken pesto with pasta, and on race day... bananas and Nutella.
How do you determine which races or events to enter each year?
That's pretty easy: First all 4X World Cups, then World and European Championships and National Champs, then BMX, supercross and Worlds and European Championship races and then... there is no more free weekends!
What motivated you to get started professionally?
My ambition and to see what is really possible if I do that professionally.
What separates you from other professional athletes?
I think after long years of trying I learned to be "more" professional than the other professionals!
What would you be doing if you weren't a professional athlete?
I would either have kids or work full-time as a technical engineer.
What's the best thing about being a professional athlete?
To do what I love to do... ride my bike.
What other sports are you interested in?
Skiing, motocross, climbing, kayaking, and sled dog races.
Any advice to the readers dreaming to turn pro?
Always believe in yourself whatever the others say.
What are your favorite magazines and websites?
I like Dirt maganzine, 'cause they got epic pics, also the website. And other bike pages like Yeticycles.com, fourcross.tv, and bmxmania.com
Favorite movie quote?
"Always look on the pride side of life."
Who is your hero?
