Tell us about your bike/vehicle setup.
2010 Santa Cruz Blur LT Carbon with a Factory Series FLOAT RP23 in the rear, 36 FLOAT 160 FIT RLC up front, and 1 x 9 gearing to keep it light and clean. My heavy bike is a semi-custom carbon hardtail single-speed with a Factory Series 32 FLOAT 120 FIT RLC up front. It's pretty heavy - about 20 pounds even. 2010 Trek Beach Cruiser (with a sick basket up front). Nemesis Project DJ / Park bike with a 91 degree head angle. It steers itself like a shopping cart.
What else is in your garage?
My wife's hardtail and full suspension frame, 2 beach cruisers and my daughter's Strider bike. A banana peel. Six skateboards (two of which are true old school originals - Roskopp 2 and a Corey O'Brien complete). A homemade pull-up bar to keep me ripped. I think I'll be able to complete 1 rep by next summer.
Any major injuries, and how did you recover?
My last worst injury was a robot contest that didn't go so well. They said I could use the band's sound system, but it didn't work out that way. At least the fire-dancer's music worked well.
What motivated you to get started professionally?
I needed a challenge and Nebraska served up plenty of endless steep climbs at the time - probably 200 ft. elevation gains on certain rides. I sold my KX 250 in college and was missing two wheels. I borrowed a friend's Trek 800 rigid and got hooked immediately. I then bought a Toys'R'Us bike and raced it for the season. I got last every race and puked every race. It was the start of my addiction (riding, not puking).
What's your favorite part about working at FOX?
Being able to combine my passions, knowing I'm with a company that doesn't take short cuts.
What other sports are you interested in?
Skating, moto, surfing, tennis, knock-out, ping pong, and rallying Polaris RZRs when I can get my hands on one.
