How does FOX contribute to your success?
They contribute by giving me the confidence I need to go fast. I can have the fastest motor in the world but if my suspension isn't right then that motor is useless. Knowing that I have the best suspension underneath me gives me a lot of confidence and helps me get on the podium.
Tell us about your best race or event and how it changed you.
My best race has to be the 2010 AMA Arenacross Finals at Sam Boydd Stadium in Las Vegas, NV. That was the race where I battled my way up to the front of the pack and then passed the guy for the win in the last corner of the final lap to win the championship. It was really awesome.
Tell us about your bike/vehicle setup.
Right now I have two Honda CR 85 motorcycles. FOX hooked me up big time on both bikes. I have the PODIUM RC2 shocks and MX-C Cartridges on both of them. I have FMF exhaust on both bikes. And the motors are pretty much stock on both as well.
What else is in your garage?
We have bicycles, video games, a workout machine, trophies, and tools. That's about it.
What's your training regimen?
Have a good breakfast, cycle for 30 minutes on level 6-8 hills road cycling then 30 minutes of strength (i.e. chest, triceps and lunges), then I'll ride my motorcycle 3 days a week for 2 to 3 hours a day.
Any major injuries, and how did you recover?
I've only had about 2 injuries that were major. One was from some crazy dad who ran to go pick up his kids bike when we got in a pile up. When he picked it up, he whiskey throttled over my arm and snapped it. That healed pretty fast though. Then I broke my leg in Reno this year but I am healed up from that and ready to start riding again.
What's your typical pre-race/event meal? Guilty pleasure?
High-protein stuff! My dad has a top secret meal that was handed down from his forefathers! Haha, and if I had my way I'd eat candy and stuff.
How do you determine which races or events to enter each year?
We decide by seeing how our budget is. If we had the money, we would go to every national there is.
What motivated you to get started professionally?
I'm not pro yet but the people who inspired me to start racing were my older brother Rafael who just turned AM pro and my dad who roadraced in the late 80s. This was probably the reason it was easy for me to do it well.
What separates you from other professional athletes?
I don't know yet.
What would you be doing if you weren't a professional athlete?
I'm pretty good at drawing so probably an artist or a musician.
What's the best thing about being a professional athlete?
Being proud of being good at what I do after a lot of hard work.
What other sports are you interested in?
Football, golf and BMX.
Any advice to the readers dreaming to turn pro?
Just give whatever you do 100 percent and you can be successful.
What are your favorite magazines and websites?
Probably Transworld Motocross, Facebook, Youtube, Today's Big Thing, and Fail Blog.
Favorite movie quote?
"Mucho take it easy" - Nacho Libre

Stewart, Dungey, and Villapoto.
