How does FOX contribute to your success?
FOX helps me succeed in giving me the possibility to run a variety of setups for all different kinds of Off-Road racing.
Tell us about your bike/vehicle setup.
2011 KX450 with a FOX shock. I am able to run an Off-Road setup without bottoming out on the moto track. It's awesome.
What else is in your garage?
Toyota Tacoma, Carbon Niner Mtn. Bike, Gas Gas 250 trials bike, and a Felt road bike.
What's your training regimen?
I ride my corner tracks or the desert a couple times a week, I ride my mountain bike a couple times a week, moto at least once a week and go to the gym two days a week.
Any major injuries, and how did you recover?
I tore my ACL last year, and I was able to recover with a strict therapist and training regimen thanks to Endurance Rehab.
What's your typical pre-race/event meal? Guilty pleasure?
I usually have a sandwich if it's in the afternoon, or oatmeal in the morning. I really like chocolate but not before a race.
How do you determine which races or events to enter each year?
My boss Jason Smigel does that for me.
What motivated you to get started professionally?
I thought it was the coolest thing in the world. I always looked up to people like McGrath and Carmichael and thought it was so cool that they could make a living riding a dirt bike.
What separates you from other professional athletes?
I have an awesome group of guys to train with. My dad and all his buddies are hardcore mtn. bikers so it's always good to go ride with them and push myself. And then my trainer Steve Hatch and my training partners Ryan Sipes and Eric Bailey help keep it fun but competitive.
What would you be doing if you weren't a professional athlete?
Well I would probably be a professional athlete in another sport or attending college full-time.
What's the best thing about being a professional athlete?
I get to workout for a living and I have a pretty flexible schedule.
What other sports are you interested in?
Mountain biking, snowboarding, wakeboarding, and trials riding.
Any advice to the readers dreaming to turn pro?
Hard work does pay off, and never give up.
What are your favorite magazines and websites?
Racer X, Transworld MX, and TheOffroadJournal.com
Favorite movie quote?
"There is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men." - Boondock Saints
Who is your hero?
Ricky Carmichael - I had the chance to meet him and ride at his house for a week and he really is a cool guy.
