How does FOX contribute to your success?
FOX was there to help our team at the beginning of the Ultra 4 King Of The Hammers and guided us to the proper products that helped us win.
Tell us about your best race or event and how it changed you.
I started rock crawling as a hobby and it was at the right time when the transition from rock crawling to King Of The Hammers racing gave me the opportunity to combine many disciplines I had a passion for and led me to winning the 2009 King of The Hammers race. That race proved to me without a doubt that I could achieve any goal in life.
Tell us about your bike/vehicle setup.
Todd tells me I suffer from Robby Gordon disease because I like a ridiculously stiff setup. We have two cars with very different styles for our numerous types of racing disciplines. One is a 4 wheel drive with a solid front axle and front engine and the other one is a 4 wheel drive IFS rear engine single seat.
What else is in your garage?
Lots of toys... downhill and freeride mountain bike, dirt bikes, snowmobiles, Jeep CJ-6... all with FOX products on them. I have lots of fun.
What's your training regimen?
I like to be active for at least 2-3 hours per day. Mountain biking is my addiction lately but I ride my dirt bike or snowmobile or go running every day.
Any major injuries, and how did you recover?
I've had a couple of bad ones, and tons of broken bones and stitches... broken back was the worst.
What's your typical pre-race/event meal? Guilty pleasure?
Carbs the night before... my wife makes the best lasagna in the world.
How do you determine which races or events to enter each year?
All the big ones!
What motivated you to get started professionally?
I would say it just happened... I took a hobby too seriously and wanted to be the best.
What separates you from other professional athletes?
I still have a day job!
What would you be doing if you weren't a professional athlete?
Looking up at 6 ft. of dirt.
What's the best thing about being a professional athlete?
Pushing your limits both mentally and physically.
What other sports are you interested in?
Everything but golf.
Any advice to the readers dreaming to turn pro?
Never ever give up... ever.
What are your favorite magazines and websites?
www.pirate4x4.com for sure!
Favorite movie quote?
"You buy a hat like that you get a free bowl of soup? Looks good on you though." - Rodney Dangerfield in Caddyshack.
Who is your hero?
Nelson & Nelson because they were innovators and my dad.
Are you a Mac or PC? Mac!
Greatest strength Finding the best in people, surrounding myself with the best team of people.
