How does FOX contribute to your success?
Shocks are more about the support and tuning than just the product themselves. I have been working closely with Regan Woelfel and Mark Bayerle at FOX over the last few years and it really helps to have the help.
Tell us about your best race or event and how it changed you.
First big desert win was the VORRA Fallon night race last year. After several "DNFs", it was great to not only finish, but win. The monkey was finally off my back and we hit the rest of the 2010 season hard with two more first place finishes.
Tell us about your bike/vehicle setup.
2008 Kawasaki Teryx
What else is in your garage?
2011 Polaris RZR XP, 2011 Can-Am Commander 1000, 2011 Kawasaki Teryx, and a 2011 John Deere Gator 825i XUV.
What's your training regimen?
Mostly wrenching on my car!
Any major injuries, and how did you recover?
Second race of the VORRA season was short course at Prairie City SVRA. I rolled the car hard and threw my back and neck out a bit. Going to the chiropractor has helped get things back in alignment.
What's your typical pre-race/event meal? Guilty pleasure?
Uncrustable PB & J sandwich - grape. With a Monster Java.
How do you determine which races or events to enter each year?
I race the VORRA season since it isn't too far from home in Northern CA. Plus this series has desert and short course so it is interesting to push myself and my Kawasaki Teryx in multiple disciplines.
What motivated you to get started professionally?
I got into racing for fun.
What would you be doing if you weren't a professional athlete?
If I wasn't racing, I would still be having fun in UTVs. Dunes. Desert. Rocks. Love them all.
What's the best thing about being a professional athlete?
Camaraderie with other racers.
Any advice to the readers dreaming to turn pro?
Many series are opening up to allow more classes in all the time. Go check out a race then come out and join in.
