How does FOX contribute to your success?
FOX has allowed me to set up a suspension to meet all my driving needs. Usually there is just one set up, whether it be for the street, the dirt, drifting or jumping, but with their coil-over 2.0 Piggyback shocks I'm able to go out and do it all!
Tell us about your bike/vehicle setup.
A little over a year ago my speed obsession turned to a 2009 Polaris RZR-S. Since then I have transformed it into one of the most powerful and exhilarating UTV's on the planet! I've up the displacement from the stock 760cc, to a wheel twisting 900cc MCX-USA bored and stroked power plant. The custom CP pistons suck all that air through a ported and polished head with 1mm larger valves by Dynamic Racing. The cam and motor were put together with love by Dirty Dawg Performance and all of that is force-fed by an MCX-USA turbo that has been upgraded to a TD04-15T turbo. The brains of this brawn are controlled by the tunable MCX-USA Display and the Dynojet Power Commander V with Autotune. From there, the bones of the original fame have been strengthened to support all the excess power with ATR chassis bones and LSR gusseting. The control arms, tie rods and axles were also beefed up and stretched out 3 inches over the already wide +5'' RZR-S suspension with the LSR XTR +8 kit. The modified stance now spans almost six feet wide and offers up to 16.5'' of wheel travel. Keeping the tacky tires and all that surface shredding torque to the ground are the uber adjustable coil-over 2.0 Piggyback shocks from FOX! With all that power comes the need for protection and safety. The RZR is wrapped in LSR's racing cage with half doors and rear bumper. The front of the vehicle and the underbelly is protected with a Holz Racing Products Pre-Runner bumper and skid plates with aluminum rocker panels. 3'' Crow 4pt. harnesses and the Twisted Stitch Vortex seat keeps me firmly planted while drifting, jumping or braking.
What else is in your garage?
I'm into performance across the board and it even overflows into my garage. My daily driver is a black on black 2008 Ford F250 that dyoned at 560rwhp and 1100rwtq. My baby and the car that I learned to hold a drift in is a black on black 2002 Z06 Corvette. It has Lingenfelter heads, custom cam, long tube headers, straight 3'' exhaust and much much more. It consistently dynos at 430rwhp and has been super reliable performance since day one. As a rolling piece of art and history, I ride a 1950 BSA B33 Dirt Track Bike. Ninety percent original, un-ridden and garaged from 1957 to 2009.
What's your training regimen?
Weekends exploring and racing across anything from high-speed sandy trails to dusty vacant county roads. The diverse terrain here in Southern New Mexico makes for the perfect training ground and keeps me sharp and ready for any riding style!
Any major injuries, and how did you recover?
Knock on wood - no injuries up to this point :)
What's your typical pre-race/event meal? Guilty pleasure?
Energy drinks! I don't drink cokes or usually any kind of pop, but I love me some energy drinks!
How do you determine which races or events to enter each year?
UTV racing is relatively new and I am trying to educate the masses on what a diverse and capable platform it is. I've always been into more technical type racing such as autocross or rally racing and that's where the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb caught my attention. The more time I spent around the UTV platform, the more I realized that it's more like a little rally car or trophy truck. The PPIHC should showcase what a UTV is actually capable of.
What motivated you to get started professionally?
I never had just one motivating factor. I was pretty much into racing or going fast since I can remember and it just seems as though it's something I was supposed to do.
What other sports are you interested in?
Any motor or power sport! I'm also a huge football fan and I love to hit the links as well :)
What are your favorite magazines and websites?
I'm online all day and I get most all of my news and information from my forums. The UTVForums.net network is packed with great info and RZRForums.net specifically has helped my RZR get to where it is today.
Favorite movie quote?
"I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany." - Ron Burgundy, Anchorman.
