How does FOX contribute to your success?
The technical support I receive is second to none.
Tell us about your best race or event and how it changed you.
My best race was when I was racing motorcycles. It was just one problem after another all day but it was a long race and with persistence the team finished respectably. I learned a lot about the value of not throwing in the towel too early.
Tell us about your bike/vehicle setup.
These vehicles are low to the ground so I try to maximize ride height.
What else is in your garage?
Motorcycle, mountain bike and a pre-runner.
What's your training regimen?
Seat time on or in anything, as much as possible.
Any major injuries, and how did you recover?
None in UTVs, too many to list on motorcycles. I?ve made a lot of payments to orthopedic surgeons.
What's your typical pre-race/event meal? Guilty pleasure?
Good meal and lots of water the night before. Fruit, cereals and light on the fluids the morning of.
How do you determine which races or events to enter each year?
I pick a series with input from my sponsors and stick to it.
What motivated you to get started professionally?
Simply my passion for Off-Road racing.
What separates you from other professional athletes?
My drive for perfection through attention to detail, organization and preparation.
What would you be doing if you weren't a professional athlete?
I wish I was racing full-time, but as long as I can stay involved in the industry I?m good.
What's the best thing about being a professional athlete?
The opportunity to spend my time following my passion.
What other sports are you interested in?
All disciplines of racing, no matter what type, with machines or not, with engines or not, on land, air or water, I like it all. It's not about speed, besides racing there is mountaineering and fishing.
Any advice to the readers dreaming to turn pro?
Forget the cliches about hard work and dedication. That is important, it?s just not enough. I think the most important component is to be likeable and follow through with your commitments. Be someone sponsors want to work with.
What are your favorite magazines and websites?
I don?t have a single subscription. I scan the news stand and the net looking for articles that grab my attention.
Favorite movie quote?
?Life moves pretty fast. If you don?t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.? Ferris Bueller?s Day Off
Who is your hero?
I admire anyone who can find a way to spend their life doing what they enjoy, while having nothing to apologize for.
