I got into snowmobiling very early in life. At the age of 6 my parents threw me on a sled and I knew instantly that snowmobiling was something that I couldn't get enough of and a sport that I wanted to be a part of.
Really what drives me the most is 2 things: one is the exploration factor! There is no other sport that gives you the freedom of exploring the mountains and being able to answer the question,"I wonder what's over this next Mountain?" like snowmobiling.
The second thing that drives me in this sport is you can never beat it! What I mean by that is there is always a line, a zone or obstacle that may seem impossible until you conquer it. That's what truly drives me each and everyday. Pushing myself as a rider everyday enables me to do things I once thought impossible.
This one is really simple for me. FOX shocks just make my snowmobile better. Pure and simple! FOX shocks give me a better chance of beating the mountain each and every day!
Pretty awesome to be able to work with FOX to produce a product that will truly make other peoples riding experience better!
I think the pure fact that I spend more days on the snow than just about anybody allows me to really get a feel for what works and what doesn't. We don't sell these shocks because they look cool, we sell them because they make your machine and your experience on the mountain better!
There are many different ways to have a successful business. For me it comes down to over delivering on peoples expectations. When someone comes here to Burandt's Backcountry Adventure I want them to leave here with a new skill set they never knew they had, a new found respect on what is actually possible on a sled and an overall experience that exceeded their expectations.
The sledding community surely is special. The passion in this industry is hard to explain. Seeing this type of passion at the trade shows and on the mountain is something I'm proud to be a part of.
It's pretty incredible to think of all the amazing things I've got to do on my snowmobile. From jumping in the middle of Red Square Russia, doing stunt work on a Vin Diesel movie in Sweden, winning a gold medal at X Games in Freestyle to exploring the uncharted terrain of the Andes mountains in August I truly have been blessed in this sport.
By far my favorite build has to be the sled I built this last season that fittingly earned the name "Monster". This machine could do things that I wasn't quite ready for. Building and riding a sled like this pushes me and makes me a better rider!
