SHOCK- Eyelet and Air Sleeve Information

FOX currently produces FLOAT based air shocks with two different eyelet styles and multiple air sleeve configurations. Use the information below to help identify the eyelet and air sleeve configuration of your shock.

Additional information about each eyelet/air sleeve configuration can be found below.

  • SV-with-SV.jpgThe SV (Standard Volume) Eyelet is the FLOAT eyelet standard introduced in 2005.
  • This eyelet has been used on FLOAT R, RP, DHX Air, CTD, and DPS based shocks from 2005 through the present.
  • SV eyelets are compatible with SV, SV EVOL, and XV air sleeves.
  • SV air sleeves are available with either hard ano or Kashima coating.
  • The SV shock pictured to the right is shown with an SV (Standard Volume) air sleeve.

  • SV-with-SV-EVOL.jpgEVOL refers to extra volume in the negative air chamber. This can help reduce the force needed to initiate travel.
  • EVOL air sleeves come in versions appropriate for either SV or LV eyelets.
  • EVOL air sleeves can provide added sensitivity and better small bump compliance.
  • SV EVOL air sleeves are available with either hard ano or Kashima coating.
  • The SV shock pictured to the right is shown with an SV EVOL air sleeve.

  • XV air sleeves are only compatible with SV eyelets.SV-with-XV.jpg
  • XV (Extra Volume) air sleeves provide increased volume in the positive air chamber which can offer a more linear spring curve over a smaller volume air sleeve such as an SV or SV EVOL.
  • XV air sleeves are available with either hard ano or Kashima coating.
  • The SV shock pictured to the right is shown with an XV air sleeve.

  • LV (Large Volume) eyelets were introduced in 2013.LV-with-LV.jpg
  • LV eyelets are an option on FLOAT shocks and standard equipment on all FLOAT X shocks.
  • The LV eyelet offers similar positive air volume to the XV sleeves, but does this at a lighter weight and with better cooling.
  • The LV sleeve is the lowest volume air sleeve that can be used on an LV shock. Air volume can be reduced in LV shocks through the use of internal air volume spacers.
  • LV air sleeves are available with either hard ano or Kashima coating.
  • The LV shock pictured to the right is shown with an LV sleeve.
