Your new 2014 O/C CTD Remote damper cartridge comes complete with a new rebound knob and new 2014 CTD lever and set screw. You do not need to retain any original 2013 O/C CTD parts.
Step 1
Turn the rebound adjuster all the way counter-clockwise, then remove the red rebound knob with a 2mm hex wrench. Over a clean oil drain, free the cartridge from the lower assembly with a 10 mm wrench (for the 32 mm fork) or a 15 mm wrench (for the 34 mm fork) and the Fox damper removal tool (32 mm PN 398-00-601; 34 mm PN 398-00-430).
Inspect the color and volume of the oil draining from the damper side fork leg.
- If you see up to 30cc of green oil, proceed to the next step.
- If you see more than 30cc of oil, or if the oil is red stop servicing the fork and please call FOX US at 1-800-369-7469 or contact an Authorized International FOX Service Center »
Step 3
Use a 6-point 26 mm chamfer-less socket to remove the cartridge from the 32 mm fork (use a 6-point 28 mm chamfer-less socket for 34 mm forks).
Step 4
Use a 2.5mm hex wrench to remove the CTD lever set screw from your new 2014 O/C CTD damper cartridge. Remove the blue CTD lever and set screw and set aside.
Step 5
Before installing the new 2014 O/C CTD cartridge into the fork, remove the red tape covering the cartridge tube vents.
Step 6
Install the new 2014 O/C CTD damper cartridge in the fork with a 6-point chamfer-less 26mm socket, tightening it to 220 in-lb (24.8 Nm) torque.
Step 7
Use your new 2014 compression selector lever to find the middle detent setting (trail mode). Install the compression selector lever with the lever pointing to the three o'clock position from the rider's perspective. Hold the lever in place as you tighten the set screw to ~11 in-lb (1.2 Nm) torque with a 2.5 mm hex wrench.
Step 8
Invert the fork and fill the O/C CTD damper side bath with the appropriate amount of FOX 10 wt. Green oil:
- For 32 mm 26” 80-100 mm forks: 20 cc FOX 10 wt. Green bath oil
- For all other 32 mm and 34 mm forks: 30 cc FOX 10 wt. Green bath oil
Step 9
Install the new bottom nut with the new crush washer, tightening to 50 in-lb (5.7 Nm) torque. Install the new rebound knob with a 2 mm hex, making sure the set screw correctly settles into its indentation on the rebound adjuster; tighten to 11 in-lb (1.2 Nm) torque. Thoroughly clean the exterior of your fork.
Step 10
Clamp the original O/C cartridge in your vice so the topcap is at least 5 inches (127mm) above the vice jaws. Clamp tightly enough to let you unthread the topcap from the cartridge tube. Unthread and remove the topcap assembly with a 26mm socket for 32mm forks (28mm socket for 34mm forks).
Step 11
Drain the oil from the original O/C cartridge into your waste oil basin. Crush the open end of the original O/C cartridge tube in your vice to prevent any future use of the damper cartridge. Recycle all aluminum cartridge parts.
